In September 2020, Dr Isaac Olufadewa was announced as one of the winners of the prestigious Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) Grant Award sponsored by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) in the United Kingdom.
He was one of the few winners out of almost a thousand applicants for this highly coveted grant prize. His research project which focuses on the COVID-19 pandemic response in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camps in Northern Nigeria will be conducted by him and few other members of Slum and Rural Health Initiative and the research will be published in the coming months in a reputable peer-reviewed journal.
The team at Slum and Rural Health Initiative is proud of the achievement of our Executive Director who has shown exceptional commitment to improving access to healthcare in historically marginalized communities in Nigeria and beyond while effectively leading Slum and Rural Health Initiative (SRHIN).
We believe that the Slum and Rural Health Initiative Research Academy, our research arm at SRHIN will conduct a thorough study on assessing the COVID-19 response in the selected underserved communities in Northern Nigeria.
