Youths for HPV

Empowering Communities for HPV Awareness & Vaccination

About Youth for HPV

The Youth for HPV (Y4HPV) initiative is dedicated to increasing HPV vaccine awareness and uptake through community-led interventions. We focus on addressing the barriers preventing adolescents, parents, and youth from accessing HPV vaccination while equipping local champions to advocate for public health solutions.

Why HPV
Awareness Matters

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a leading cause of cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. Despite the availability of a safe and effective vaccine, misinformation and lack of awareness hinder widespread adoption. Y4HPV is bridging this gap through targeted education and advocacy efforts.

Our Approach and Project Activites

Discver the various ways we are driving change through community advocacy

Community-Led
Awareness Campaign

  • We have trained and empowered 40 youth advocates (ages 18-35) to serve as “Youth for HPV (Y4HPV) Champions” who lead culturally relevant community engagement and media advocacy campaigns.

Media Campaign

  • Utilizing social media, radio, and print media to spread awareness and debunk myths.
  • Engaging influencers and community leaders to amplify HPV vaccine advocacy.
  • Creating compelling digital content to reach diverse audiences.

Strengthening Health Systems & Local Capacities

  • Partnering with local organizations and health professionals to improve access to accurate HPV information.
  • Implementing media-driven campaigns to counter myths and misconceptions about HPV and vaccination.
  • Strengthening community engagement through interactive workshops, digital outreach, and stakeholder collaboration.

HPV Knowledge & Attitude Assessment

  • Studied adolescents (9-16 years) to assess their knowledge and views on HPV and vaccination.
  • Evaluated how Y4HPV Champions’ training improved their knowledge and advocacy.
  • Identified barriers and motivators influencing HPV vaccine adoption among parents (18-70 years).
