Bunmi is a young woman who lives in Ibadan, Nigeria, full of dreams and aspirations.  Bunmi’s life took a turn she never anticipated when she discovered she was expecting her first child. Her joy knew no bounds as she envisioned cradling her bundle of joy. However, amidst her excitement, an unexpected twist threatened her happiness.

Bunmi, like many Nigerians, contracted Hepatitis B unknowingly. It was during her routine prenatal check-up that the truth unfolded. The diagnosis sent shockwaves through her, leaving her anxious about her baby’s health and uncertain about the future.

Thankfully, Bunmi found solace in the support and guidance of our organization, tirelessly working towards the eradication of Hepatitis B in Nigeria. Armed with knowledge and resources, Bunmi embarked on a journey of resilience and determination.

Throughout her pregnancy, Bunmi diligently followed medical advice, undergoing regular screenings and receiving antiviral treatment to protect her baby from the virus. Our organization’s educational efforts ensured she understood the importance of vaccination and immunoglobulin for her newborn.

Despite the challenges, Bunmi’s spirit remained unbroken. With each passing day, she grew stronger, fueled by the hope of a healthy future for her child.

As the day of her baby’s arrival drew near, Bunmi’s heart swelled with anticipation and gratitude. With the support of her healthcare team and our organization, she welcomed her precious baby into the world, a moment filled with overwhelming joy and relief.

Bunmi’s journey highlights the importance of awareness and access to healthcare in combating Hepatitis B, especially during pregnancy. Through our collective efforts, we can empower women like Bunmi to overcome obstacles and embrace motherhood with confidence.
