SRHIN’s Founder, Dr. Isaac Olufadewa Joins Goalkeepers Community, Advocating for Health and Wellbeing

I celebrate every person doing the hard work of promoting good health and wellbeing and other global goals. I want you to know: your work matters!
Founder of Slum and Rural Health Initiative Africa, Dr. Isaac Olufadewa.

As is customary, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation hosted the annual Goalkeepers event during the 78th UN General Assembly at New York City, USA on September 19 and 20. The visionary leader behind the Slum and Rural Health Initiative Network (SRHIN), was extended a prestigious invitation to the esteemed event. Dr. Olufadewa expressed his deep appreciation for the opportunity to interact with like-minded optimists and change-makers who share a profound commitment to driving positive change worldwide. During the event, Our Founder engaged in vibrant discussions with global influencers and change-makers, particularly those working in the fields of health and social impact. These interactions underscored the collective effort needed to advance vital causes that directly impact communities around the world.

Goalkeepers was initiated by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2017, to assemble leaders from across the globe with the primary aim of accelerating progress towards the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At its core lies the annual Goalkeepers event, a significant gathering that typically coincides with Global Goals Week and the UN General Assembly. The event usually begins with an award ceremony (Changemakers award) and is concluded by a conference.

Notably, invitations to the Goalkeepers event are extended exclusively to distinguished global leaders and emerging figures who have been personally handpicked by the board. This selective approach ensures that the event brings together a diverse and influential group of individuals who are committed to tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges, ultimately propelling humanity towards a more sustainable and equitable future.

This year’s event with the theme “Imagine a World”, hosted leaders from some countries in the world like, Kenyan President William Ruto and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan and over 400 young global changemakers who are leaders in their own rights. The event served as a powerful reminder of the imperative to take meaningful action in addressing global challenges.

The inclusion of Dr. Isaac Olufadewa into the Goalkeepers community signifies a powerful endorsement of SRHIN’s dedication to improving healthcare information and services accessibility to everyone, everywhere. It also underscores the importance of our mission, which aligns closely with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: “Good Health and Well-being.” As Dr. Isaac joins hands with fellow Goalkeepers, the world can expect to witness even greater strides toward achieving these global goals. His journey exemplifies the impact that dedicated individuals and organizations can have on creating a healthier, more equitable world for all.

In closing, our inspiring leader leaves every change maker with a resounding message: “Your work matters!” This call to action serves as a rallying cry for all those striving to make a difference, reminding us that every act of kindness and every effort to improve the world leaves an unforgettable mark.
