Job Title: Policy associate

Location: Abuja

Job description: The selected candidate will play a major role in providing overall leadership in the strategy and execution of our mental health intervention for young people living in Internally displaced camps in northern Nigeria. S/he must have experience with ‘issue’ advocacy campaigns–especially those that advance inclusive healthcare services, economic security, and policies. S/he will work closely with young people in the camps, program partners, policy-makers, and advocates to advance the intervention goals on the braveheart project using proven advocacy and outreach techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Track relevant legislation and prepare regular reports for our network.
  • Write letters, policy products, newsletters and develop other materials as necessary.
  • Build and maintain exceptional relationships with policy-makers, program partners,
  • coalitions, and advocates in support of the project.
  • Plan, implement and/or participate in relevant committee or project meetings.
  • Provide evaluation and project support as needed.

Requirements:

    • Must demonstrate strong writing and editing skills with the ability to convey information on complex issues both verbally and in writing using data and reasoning.
    • Ability to perform well under pressure, be able to manage competing demands, be proactive, show resourcefulness, and adapt well to changing circumstances.
  • Previous experience working in policy
